GLUG dive trip - PLYMOUTH - Saturday 26th and Sunday 28th August 2017

Trip Organiser: Mark
Max number: 10 Who's going? Mark, Fi, Debbie, Steph Corrine This firm fixture in the annual GLUG dive calendar is as usual taking place on the August Bank Holiday weekend to provide us with three days of diving, weather permitting, running Saturday to Monday. We will be diving on Venture a hard boat with a hydraulic lift. Divers are free to arrange their own accommodation for this trip as no group booking is offered. A list of suggested B&Bs is available on request, notably Venn Farm B&B is no longer an option. However the Brixton Caravan and Camping Park at Venn Farm is still an option. The boat will leave from Mount Batten Marina, usually the water taxi pontoon so for easy transit to and from the meeting point, accommodation on the Mount Batten side of the harbour is recommended. Whilst this trip is suitable for a range of diving experience, Plymouth in fair weather offers some slightly deeper dives including wrecks and if we’re lucky Eddystone Lighthouse. Those on the trip in 2016 saw only two days of diving however they were arguably two of the best days diving many of us have had in the UK, Plymouth really can surprise! Dive sites will be chosen based on the experience level of those booked and the tides. Venture takes 10 divers and is skippered by Chris Howe who has skippered this trip for a number of years. Venture is a well-equipped boat with ample room for the number of divers and reasonable quantities of kit. On board facilities comprise the usual post dive tea/coffee and bow toilet with electric flush… almost palatial! In a break from ‘tradition’ and to reflect the shifting pattern of accommodation (e.g. its geography), the evening meals for the Saturday and Sunday nights will be at pubs/restaurants selected by those booked on the trip. Variety is the spice of life… In the event of less favourable weather, wherever possible, we’ll resort to an alternative day chosen from suggestions. Being a three day trip, the loss of a day due to bad weather is not out of the question. The diving the day after a storm in Plymouth has been a pleasant surprise in the past so riding it out and having fun as a group is a good plan B. The Total Price is £150, a deposit of £35 is required to book a place on the trip, which can be purchased below. Cancellation Policy: £35 deposit refunded only if the place is filled by someone else. Full payment, so the balance of £115 is required 10 weeks before the weekend, so by 20 June 2017. This is non-refundable unless a replacement is found. The trip organiser will email you when the balance is due and you will then be able to pay the balance via this page. If you would like to join this trip, you must complete the booking form on the left and pay the deposit via the link below (click Add to Cart alongside the deposit). N.B. You need to be a GLUG member to join this trip so if you have not already paid your GLUG 2017 membership fee this can also be purchased below (click the Add to Cart Link below. It can be purchased with the boat dive deposit at the same time) PLEASE NOTE: You will need to have 2 cylinders each day as we will be out on the boat all day and there is no possibility to fill them between dives.www.yachthavens.com/plymouth/ If you need to hire dive kit, complete the form below (which we be emailed to Martin) |
