GLUG dive log 2013
2013 was (another!) wonderful year for GLUG dive trips and we've compiled a list of the dive sites on some of those trips below (hope to have all the details of all trips soon ~ keep watching this space folks!) Dive sites marked with an asterisk * are linked to an external website for more details on the dive site itself.
A massive collective GLUG hug and thank you to all the trip organisers and dive boat managers for all your hard work both before and during the trips, on land and water and to all the GLUG divers and friends for making it so much fun.
Here's to reminiscing the dives we've done and the wonderful days, weekends and weeks we've had away together in 2013 !
GLUG looks forward to seeing YOU on the next one ;o)

Trip organiser and Dive Manager : Debbie Pippard

Boat : Sound Diver
Skipper : Alan Livingstone
A truly wonderful week's diving left each and every one of us wanting more and not wanting to leave! Highlight dives for everyone were the (almost vertical) wreck of the Rondo, the soft coral festooned Hispania and the Thesis. Caught our own dinner on a scallop run as well as being treated to delicious, freshly caught mackerel by our super friendly skipper Alan. Accommodation was stunning, set in a breathtaking location at the tip of Lochaline and we each took turns in preparing feasts for very hungry dive bellies each evening. There was plenty of interesting sea life including brightly colored sea slugs, armies of squat lobster, bib, wrasse, pollack, pink sea fans, soft coral and anemonies of almost every kind and colour and compass and lion's mane jellyfish. Wildlife spotting out of the water was equally as exciting with groups of resident heron fishing on the loch in front of our magnificent 'guest mansion', several families of Atlantic (grey) seals, as well as a pair of porpoises and a white tipped sea-eagle. We made the most of a couple of surface interval stops with brief whiskey and chocolate shopping expeditions (all dressed in our dive kits of course, much to the delight and bewilderment of the locals and tourists alike!) to Tobermory. Weather and water were exceptionally kind to us and at the end of each and every day's diving we were treated to complete rainbow arcs (and sometimes double rainbow arcs) as our boat pootled back over the molten silvery, silky flat calm waters of the Sound of Mull, all of lost in our thoughts. Perfect!

London Diver Chamber 03 October 2013
Organised by : Roger Peaple
Dived with : The London Dive Chamber, St. John's Wood, London
Dry Dive to a depth of 50m in the decompression chamber on mixed gas
Much 'narked' fun and laughter (with a good dose of DCI & Recompression education!) was had by all once again at the London Dive Chamber. There were enough of us to be split into two groups of 4 and we were very well looked after by Bill (the Chamber Manager) and Ian who accomapnied us in the pot (Ian told me at the NEC DIVE2013 show that he hadn't had so much dry dive fun for ages and is looking forward to our next visit in 2014!)
