Brighton Pride - Help Needed

Posted by cmid on 23rd July 2008

Hello Members,

Brighton Pride is next weekend and we need to rally more support in manning our stall on Saturday 2nd August at Preston Park. If you are going, a 30 min - 1hr stint will be gratefully appreciated. London Pride was a great event for Glug with several new members signed up and we hope Brighton will be even more successful. We expect the stall (as with London Pride) to get really busy so helping out by talking to people about diving and joining our club will be thankfully received.

Please contact Caroline if you can lend a hand (email address on GLUG Contacts page when you  log in. Tell me the times you can do and provide your mobile number.

Many thanks,

Caroline M

10km Run With Kings Cross Steelers - 16th August 08

Posted by chrislee on 10th June 2008

Kings Cross Steelers (rugby team) are considering challenging all of the other London gay sporting groups to a bit of a race.

Every year, the London Frontrunners organise the London Pride Run a 10km race; this year it’s on Saturday 16th August, in Victoria Park (East London).

The Steelers thought it might be good to see which of London’s gay sporting groups (excluding the Frontrunners) would be able to put out the best 10k running team.

It would get a few of the clubs together, have a laugh and give someone bragging rights (at least for the next 12 months) over the other sports groups. It would also raise some cash for charity at the same time (the run itself supports Stonewall).

Anyone interested to establish a GLUG running team please leave a comment!

Thanks

Chris

London Pride 5th July 08 - Volunteers Required

Posted by chrislee on 27th May 2008

Dear GLUG Members

London Pride is fast approaching (5th July 2008) and we are beginning the recruitment of members to help support the club by manning our stall in Trafalgar Square.

This normally involves helping to setup the stall, handing out flyers, giving advise to people interesting in learning to dive through to taking the stall down at the end of the day.

There will be 2hr shifts and we would love to have two people per shift starting from around 10:30 (exact time to be advised) but anytime you can spare would be appreciated.

Quite a few members will be away on the Coco’s trip this year so we would welcome as much support as possible from anyone who might not have volunteered before.

Please leave a comment below if you would be free on the day to give a couple of hours.

Many thanks

Chris

GLUG Picnic

Posted by Jason on 20th May 2008

Following the success of last year’s GLUG picnic we have decided to tempt fate and hold another. This year’s picnic will also be a bring-and-share knees-up in a central London park (weather permitting) and will take place on Sunday the 31st of August. We will be deciding upon the exact location and start time a little closer to the date.

Sark Trip - Air Ticket for sale

Posted by fredwynn on 15th May 2007

Good afternoon
Sark Diving Weekend 25-28th May 2007

Due to a late cancellation (due to work commitment) I have been asked to see if anyone would be interested in purchasing an air ticket from London Gatwick to Guernsey, leaving Gatwick on Friday afternoon and returning to London the following Tuesday morning.

A name change will cost GBP20. If anyone is interested in buying this ticket and to come and join us for this weekend, can you please make me a reasonable offer which I will pass on to the ticket holder.

Even if you do not want to go diving, it might be a good excuse to join in the social activities during the weekend.

Please get in touch with me if you are interested.

Police hunt murderers of gay man

Posted by Neil on 1st November 2004

Police are hunting a gang of teenagers who left 5 people injured, and one dead in a series of attacks near the Royal Festival Hall early on Saturday morning.

The gang are thought to have been targeting gay men on their way home from the clubs.

You can read more here, here, and here.

Our sympathies go to David Morley’s friends and family.
