Southern Egyptian Red Sea Trip September 2009

Posted by brian broadbridge on November 20th, 2008

Following the cancellation of the NCRD (Northern California Rainbow Divers) Galapagos trip, Brian is organising a trip to the southern Red Sea aboard the Blue Seas in it’s place. The week long trip runs from either the 16th or 17th September 2009 (TBC).

The trip is currently not an official GLUG trip however it has the potential to become an official club trip provided there is sufficient interest. If there is insufficient interest from club members then the trip will be opened to other dive clubs in order to fill the boat.

The trip weighs in at approximately £1200 and detailed information on the trip is contained in this document.

Please contact Brian if you wish to reserve a place on the trip or have any questions.

Cheers

Mark.

New Pictures in the Gallery

Posted by Anna on July 7th, 2008

Martin J. and I came back from a very enjoyable trip to Egypt almost a month ago. We were diving with the Pharaoh Dive Club located on the premises of the Fanadir Hotel just outside El Quseir.  We were joined by two ladies from Norwich (Pat & Ruth), who did their PADI OWD there and still managed to join us a half way through the trip. They loved the experience and they are going to join Glug soon.

We did four days of shore diving at various locations along the coast and two days of a hard boat diving. Martin is writing a trip report, so you can find more about that trip soon. I just want to add that on the second day I did my first night dive which was also my 50th dive in total. It was a fantastic experience but as a novice to night diving I did not use my camera, concentrating on the dive.

Nevertheless, I took plenty of pictures under and above water. A large selection of them you can see in the Gallery under El Quseir June 2008. For the identification of fish I have used Red Sea Reef Guide by Helmut Debelius but I had to make a few guesses as I could not find some of them.

Murder/Mystery Weekend in Penzance

Posted by mayday on February 9th, 2008

Steph and I are running a gay murder/mystery weekend in Penzance, 19-21 April.  Programme starts on Saturday with sight-seeing, shopping etc, culminating in a fiendish murder/mystery dinner compiled by our good selves.  Everyone gets a part and the group works out who dunnit after dinner.  Sunday is more sight-seeing etc, followed by a fancy dress dinner (theme: Pirates).  Monday is going home day.  The hotel is owned by a fellow diver who we met in Egypt - straight, but gay friendly.  Hotel is the Talbert - see their website: www.anicelittlehotel.com.  For roughty/toughty divers, there’s an optional dive on the Friday (18th).  Please contact me if interested and I’ll send more details and a booking form.
