Posted by mayday on July 7th, 2010

I still have 2 places left on this weekend.  Suitable for BSAC Sports/PADI Advanced upwards who have some UK diving experience.  Semi-drys adequate.  It’s a lovely big boat with a lift – Tango.  Accommodation already arranged.  Please let me know asap if you’re interested.

Pembrokeshire, 23-25 July

Posted by mayday on July 7th, 2010

I still have one place for this 3-day dive.  Easy diving and suitable for any qualification.  Semi-drys adequate.  It’s a fabulous place to dive – the marine park is full of life and we usually see seals – sometimes even dive with them.  Please let me know if you’re interested.  Off on a trip myself now, but will be back mid next week, so don’t worry if you don’t get an instant reply.

Raja Ampat trip – Discount details

Posted by Neil on July 7th, 2010

As a result of receiving a sample contract from Worldwide Dive and Sail, I’ve had to remove the discounted price from the Public website (it’s one of the conditions of the contract that we don’t publicly advertise the discount).

Apologies if you already know the details, but here they are:

The listed price is 2600 Euros (approx £2170), but GLUG members will receive a 20% discount (approx £435), bringing the price down to £1735.

The full payment schedule is therefore:

£250 deposit

£500 due 1st January 2011

£500 due 1st July 2011

£485 due 1st October 2011

Processing your request, Please wait....

Raja Ampat 2012

The Indo Siren Liveaboard

Hi folks,

Just a reminder about the Raja Ampat trip.  It’s starting to fill up, but it would be nice to get a few more divers booked, so that we can have the whole boat to ourselves.

The trip is aimed at experienced divers – some of the currents can be unpredictable, and we will be a very long way from the nearest Chamber (500 – 700Km as the crow flies, most of it across open sea).  Photographers will find the trip particularly worthwhile, with the huge variety of critters to photograph.

For more details, see the Trips page, or the previous post

Website Issues

Posted by Mark on July 4th, 2010

It has come to my attention that there are or have been a few issues with people accessing the website, logging in etc. I’m aware of at least one issue which has caused a few troubles for a minority of people however I need to understand the full extent of the issues(s).

Could I request that anyone experiencing issues accessing the site please report the issue to me : with as much detail as possible – if an error message is shown please copy this to me in it’s entirety and it would be helpful to know the page you were on and the action which then caused the problem.

I hope to build up a picutre of what is going on since I’ve heard various stories and it all seems a bit hit and miss. The more detail I can get the quicker I’ll trace the problem – please be as specific as you can be… ‘it went blank’ and ‘I couldn’t log on’ are of very little use, the real information comes from the boring details I’m afraid!

I’d also appreciate hearing from anyone who believe that they aren’t/haven’t received all the post notification emails they should have – check the forum and compare your your emails…

Thanks for your assistance and apologies to those of you who have been suffering issues with the site of late.

Cheers

Mark.

Pride Volunteers

Posted by Doug_Young on July 2nd, 2010

Thanks to those of you who have volunteered to person the stall at London Pride tomorrow.

As the numbers are a little low, I am not able to produce a rota – so I’d just ask that any of you that can, join us at the stall (we will be there from 10.00 until 6.00) and lend a helping hand.  The more the merrier!  It is nothing difficult – you’ll just be a smiling face to promote the Club!

Hopefully the weather will be kind – so don’t forget your suntan lotion, since as far as we are aware, the stalls will not have coverings (though with the way Pride appears to have been organised this year, anything is possible)!

Hope to see you all there!

Doug x

GLUG ST JOHNS 7TH JULY 2010 glug-red-sea-2009-group
Where else can you indulge in an hour long, Sound of Music singalong, in The Red Sea, other than a GLUG liveaboard! That was one of the many joys of this year’s amazing trip!
‘Thanks all, for a great time; it was one of the most enjoyable GLUG trips I have been on’. Alan L
‘Many thanks too to one and all for making it a great week – some indelible memories implanted in the brain cell! Fiona M
‘Its one of the best (if not, the best) diving holiday I’ve had – great company and brilliant diving. thanks everyone’
Debbie P
As ever Nina, our lovely Austrian dive guide briefed and executed every dive safely and with finesse. How does she spot those Hammerheads?? She did comment that she loves spending the week with GLUG as, instead off entertaining the guests, she gets entertained! With Nina firmly booked for next year’s trip, I am excited to announce that Blue Seas has been chartered as follows:

7th JULY 2010
£1006
(NB. The above price includes a £50 discount from Oonasdivers. This discount will only apply if you pay on time. If your payment is overdue the price will be £1056. )

INCLUDES FLIGHTS, TRANSFERS, A WEEKS LIVE ABOARD ON BLUE SEAS, FULLY CATERED, SOFT DRINKS, TEA & COFFEE, ENTRY VISA. NITOX FREE TO REPEAT GUESTS.

£200 non refundable deposit () secures a place on a 1st come 1st served basis
Please familiarise yourself with Oonasdivers terms and conditions

SAFARI: ST JOHNS, FURY SHOALS AND ELPHINESTONE

Visiting reefs between Port Ghalib and St. John’s Reef, this itinerary is a beautiful way to discover the southern Egyptian Red Sea. Deep drop offs covered with vibrant corals in the bluest of blue sea. Sharks and other large ocean dwelling fish are common sights. This is an astounding reef safari and a photographer’s dream. This trip is ideal for both experienced divers and newer divers. (Elphinestone, however, would require 50 logged dives)

Please feel free to contact me or, grab Brian Broadbridge at the socials on the 1st Tuesday of each month, should you need anymore details. We are really excited about putting this trip together for you.

Charlie & Brian
