Scuba Kit for sale

Posted by Neil on June 24th, 2009

Hi.  A friend of mine is getting rid of some Scuba kit, which, although old, has hardly been used.

1) AP Valves “Buddy” slimline BCD.  Unused – has never seen water of any kind!  About 12-13 years old, and in Perfect condition.  Includes the Pony bottle.  Dayglo green, medium size.

2) Scubapro MK10 1st & 2nd Stage regulator and octopus with Scubapro depth & pressure gauge.  Again, about 12-13 years old, and only used about 6 times.

Both items would obviously need servicing, but only because of their age, and not because of any fault.

As yet, I don’t know how much he wants for them (I’ll update the post if I find out), but if anyone’s interested, please email me (log in, then click the envelope at the top of this post), or leave a comment below.

Neil.

Diving in the UK…

Posted by Ian France on June 12th, 2009

Hello All,

A few members have stated that whilst they learnt to dive in warmer waters, they would also like to dive in and around the UK. As the UK has some of the most amazing dive locations in the world!

But the UK is more challenging and drysuit’s are the norm! So I’m putting together a series of UK conversion courses together including Advanced Open Water, Dry suit, Nitrox and Deep courses. Everything you need to get into UK diving!

If you are interested get in touch! The first one is 11/12th July and there is already 5 of us!

On this weekend (11th – 12th July), we will be doing an advanced course and a dry suit course.

Day 1, at Wraysbury (near Heathrow) – we will do some dry suit, navigation, and buoyancy skills.
Day 2, at Chepstow (near Bristol) – we will head deeper (~25m – 30m) doing more drysuit skills whilst looking at some wrecks, and all the sites have to offer…

As Chepstow is a few hours away by road, i plan to head up straight from Wraysbury on Day1, stay in a B&B, so that we are fresh and ready for diving on Day 2.

There are no exams/classroom sessions, only some Knowledge reviews to do! The Advanced is all about improving your practical diving skills and building experience… An Advanced course is 225, and a drysuit course is 149, but if you combined them this weekend, then it will cost 299, saving about £70!!! B&B will be about £30 for the evening…

Thanks, enjoy your weekend!!!
Ian.

Thanks
Ian France

New gallery of underwater photos on my website

Posted by AlanL on June 7th, 2009

For anyone interested in underwater photography… I have just posted on my website a selection of photos from my recent trip to the Northern Red Sea. Take a look at www.alanlarsen.co.uk

All feedback and comments gratefully received. I’m particularly interested in which images people like the most. When taking photos it’s very easy to get wound up in the images that took a lot of time or effort to get or were technically difficult – and then lose sight of what the viewer actually likes!  So I’m interested to find out what you like the most.  Please either leave a comment on here or contact me via the link on my website.

For anyone who wants to spend a week concentrating on taking photos without worrying about losing their buddy or the rest of the group (!), I strongly recommend booking on to a photo workshop. I have now been on several with Mark Webster and Martin Edge (others run them too…); not only do you get more opportunity to take photos, you can also learn loads – both from Mark and Martin as well as from the other photographers on the trip. (And the participants shoot with everything from basic compacts to housed dSLRs.)

Alan

Weymouth, 15-16 August

Posted by mayday on June 3rd, 2009

I now have a spare space on this weekend.  Suitable for BSAC Sports/PADI Advanced upwards.  A 7mm semi-dry suit would be adequate, so dry suit not compulsory.  Should have a few UK dives logged already – not really suitable for first-time UK divers.  Booking form available on the website.

Scapa Flow, 20-26 June space available

Posted by mayday on June 3rd, 2009

We have a last minute spare space for Scapa Flow, 20-26 June.  Must be an experienced dry suit UK diver with a minimum of BSAC Sports/PADI Advanced qualification.  As we already have a deposit for this space, the fee for diving and accommodation (including breakfast) is a bargain £301.  Please contact me urgently if you’re interested.  Travel isn’t included but I can provide some possible options.
