Underwater Photographer Magazine

Posted by Neil on 25th October 2005

I recently discovered the free online Underwater Photographer Magazine, and thought I’d let everyone know about it.

It’s issued bi-monthly, and is completely free, although you are required to register your email address - they promise that this will never be given to anyone else, and is primarily there to protect their bandwidth on the site.

Recent issues include reviews of Cameras, Strobes, and Underwater Housings, as well as articles on Photographic Techniques, Dive locations, and Book Reviews, and many of the contributors are members of BSOUP. There’s usually some inspiring photos too!

For more information see the UWPMag website.

Gay trip to Wakatobi (Indonesia)

Posted by Neil on 24th October 2005

Wakatobi

Hi everyone,

Karen Doby of Northern California Rainbow Divers has asked me to invite GLUG members to join their trip to Wakatobi in July next year.

The plan is to take over the whole resort for a week, and places are selling fast.

For those who don’t know, Wakatobi offers fantastic reef diving - Jacques Cousteau described the area as having “the best reefs in the world”. It’s a protected Marine Park, home to a wide range of unique plants and animals found only in Indonesian waters. Photographers - take your Macro Lenses!

For more information, see the trip information page on the NCRD (Northern California Rainbow Divers) website. NCRD are offering GLUG members the same 5% discount on the advertised prices that they’re offering their own members.

Places are filling up fast, so if you’re interested, register for the trip ASAP on the trip webpage, or send Karen an email.

Bali Bombs

Posted by Neil on 1st October 2005

Some of you may know that one of our members, Brian Broadbridge, is currently in Bali on a diving trip, and may therefore be concerned for his safety, after hearing about todays bombs there (at around 11am, UK time).

The good news is that Brian and his friends are safe, but I’m sure that everyone will join me in sending all those affected by the bombings our sympathy and best wishes.
