Boots can be changed on drysuits fairly easily – not sure whether some dive shops do them in house but certainly you can send it back to the manufaturer to have boots changed. They also pressure test the suit to ensure its sealed and sometimes they spot seals which need replacing and your suit arrives back with new ones unexpectidly – bonus!
So as long as the suit fits properly, don’t worry about the boots being the wrong size, they are a routine change item because they wear out eventually.
Price, on my Oceanic menbraine suit the eval and test cost £22 and the boots inc fitting cost £44, with VAT total was ~£86. Depends on suit make and type I guess but factor this in when deciding on how much to spend on the suit in the first place! On that occasion I had a leak in the suit so I opted to have the boots changed as well because they’d need it sooner or later. Oh, and add the cost of postage for the suit including insurance – otherwise £36 is all you’ll be able to claim, most likely in the form of stamps, and tha’t a lot of Chirstmas cards!!!
Turn around can be several weeks, often they quote 6 weeks but in reality many people won’t send suits fr repair during the season unless they really can’t avoid it so its an ideal time for a fairly quick turn around – bank on 2 weeks…
Mark.
Yes you can get boots changed. Try Googling Hammond Dry Suits. They’re great and can quote you a price
