Advice on diving in Spain
Posted by peter on April 21st, 2010
I have planned to do a weeks diving in Spain (L’Estartit north of Barcelona) during July. I read somewhere that it was necessary to have a health certificate signed by your GP when diving in Spain – anyone know if this is true?
many thanks,
Peter

I believe that it depends on where in Spain you dive – different regions have different rules. I know that in Murcia, for example, you need to have a GP’s certificate in order to sign up for a Course, but I don’t think you need it if you’re already qualified.
If no-one from GLUG knows, either contact a Dive School in L’Estartit directly, and ask, or you could try posting a question on the Scubaboard forums: http://www.scubaboard.com
Neil.
Thanks Neil, I will try both routes – contact local dive centre and post on the forum you suggest,
thanks,
Peter.
Not an advice, just a comment: in France, the dive centres also ask for a medical certificate but generally accept the self-certified BSAC certificate (I just don’t volunteer the info that it is self certified). There tends to be less scrutiny re the certificate when you have hundreds of dives in your log and a lot more questions are asked if you have just a few dives.
