Try-dive Event & Social Barbecue – Sat 18th July

Posted by Mark on July 9th, 2009

To complement the hard work done on the stall at Pride London, the forthcoming try-dive event is being combined with a GLUG social to aid interaction between potential members and the existing crowd. A golden opportunity to welcome those interested in diving and our club into the fold and also catch up with members who can’t make Tuesday meetings.

Please see the try-dive page for details of the venue including a map and program of events.

The venue is a private house with a pool and a large garden so sunbathing is possible (bad weather plans in place… indoors!) together with plenty of space for socialising. It would be great if we could have a good turn out from the existing membership!

The social barbecue begins at the end of the try-dive event however members are welcome to attend earlier to chill out in the garden or to jump in, get wet and test kit etc (try-dive activities take precedence so members will be asked to wait until the the training is complete). There’s a rumour that the owner of an under water scooter may be offering rides… hoodies are optional!

Please bring a bottle and something to throw on the barbecue, preferably a little more than just for yourself but nothing too excessive…! The free beer & burger is for the try-divers only!

If you can offer your assistance with running and/or supporting the try-dives (not all roles involve getting wet!) please contact or leave a comment on this post so he can work up a plan and match people with tasks. Assistance will be required from 2.30pm onwards so that we have hands to get things set up ahead of the try-dives themselves.

Many thanks in advance for your help, and of course thank you to everyone who assisted on the stall at Pride, very much appreciated.
