hi Ray
Reply to Sallya couple of things - i couldnt find how to email you back? neither could i find any dates for this trip?
also, im finding as a new member that trips so far are closed to me because im relatively inexperienced (Advanced OWD only), so can you tell me if this is also for experienced divers only?
many thanks
Hi Sally,
When logged on you should see a yellow envelope next to (the Chef) envelope, click on it and then write and send. This is the way all members can email each other(from their posting) separate from the forum.
If you go into the “events” section at the top of the page you should see the dates clearly displayed when logged on.
Diving to ADVANCED Open Water level would qualify you for the wreck diving. Experience is all however. I will be sending out to all a questionaire sheet (as all Glug trip advisors usually do) to ascertain your level of competance ie, how many dives done, maximum depth, when you last dived etc. We all have to learn and down this neck of the woods the weather is usually kinder and Viz far superior to that of the mainland, hence a good place to progress in competance.I am liasing with the skipper to ensure good dive windows and if any in the group feel they would prefer a more shallow dive then I,m sure we can sort a nice shallow reef or two as well.
Reply to Ray (the chef)I would advise some prior build up dives to at least 25-30mtrs leading up to the trip to ensure you feel up to it. We dived the Heron I think it was last year on the Sark trip and most found it an easy type of dive as is the Schokland at around 25mtrs.
There will be quite a few experienced divers on the boat as well as an instructor to buddy up with.
Bravado breeds stupidity and common sense is all!
Look forward to hearing from you again Sally with more details as you wish.It should be a super weekend to look forward to.
Cheers Ray
Hi Sally
Reply to Fred WynnAs Ray mentioned, depth progression is important as well as experience of diving some wrecks.
I am Ray’s dive buddy and the instructor. If ‘any’ diver needs a buddy to build up confidence/someone to help out - I will be on this trip and help out where necessary. I am a BSAC Instructor and soon to be PADI instructor too. You won’t be pushed to go in the wreck - the last GLUG trip to Sark, I let the UK diver do as she felt comfortable with. At least you will have experienced channel islands divers with you.
As Ray mentioned, it will be a great weekend, both socially and with the excellent diving.
Fred
Hi Sally, I’m also very inexperienced AOWD and had the same problem. I was feeling that the trips organised by the Glug are far too advanced for me. Therefore, I started organising diving trips myself. E-mail me on AnnaBohach@aol.com if you want some info. Also some of the trips to Egypt do cater for less experienced divers.

Hi Anna/Sally,
Reply to Ray (the chef)Yes Val did the Heron last year and found it was an easy wreck to do with a wide open hold area, not too deep and with good viz and as Fred says there’s no pressure to enter the wreck, so dive it how you wish.
I think there’s now spaces for you two on the boat if you want to join in the fun.Let me know as soon as you can though to put your names down.
Yes wet suit is fine for that time of the year Anna as its around the 16 degrees mark.
Hi Ray, please count me in if you stil have a space on the boat. Thanks
Reply to Anna BohachGreat Anna.Good to have you on board!
I think I only have one more place on the dive boat itself now if all are coming along. I shall take reserves though.
Please confirm attendance everyone so far that I may I advise the one space is still free.
The Travel Agents have reserved spaces on the flights and hotel until the end of the November so they will require a £100 deposit per person to secure your places.I will advise all on their direct contact number so you can give them a credit card detail if wished to confirm the booking. We are 14 in the group so far (11 divers)and there has been good interest..should be an enjoyable trip all round, even if not getting in the water! Let me know if anyone else wants to come…Cheers Ray.
Reply to Ray (the chef)Heathrow, Manchester and Exeter are also currently on offer at the original package price of £239.00, and Gatwick at £262.00 per person. (Based on 2 people sharing).
Reply to Ray (the chef)Prices for Heathrow, Manchester and Exeter are not guaranteed until booked so don’t delay.
We have 3 possibly 4 spaces on the boat left and the group is 13 definates to date with more to be added in the coming months with reserves & those for social scene. Good flight timings are available at the moment(after work on Friday outward and late Monday evening return- so 3 full days of fun!).Excellent for both novice and experienced divers alike and socialites with good viz & fiz for both!Don’t miss out.
