Website Stats

The GLUG website has all sorts of built-in monitoring and Statistics information, and I thought I’d just share a few interesting facts (well, I think they’re interesting anyway!)
- The website gets on average, between 150 and 250 visitors per day. (This doesn’t include Search Engines, which visit us regularly to update their indexes)
- The majority of visitors are based in the USA – at least, that’s where their ISPs servers are. We get almost twice as many visitors from the USA as from the UK! We’ve also had visitors from as far away as Chile, Japan, and South Korea.
- Unsurprisingly, many people find us via other GLBT websites such as Outforsport.org , gaysports.com , and gayoutdoors.com . Our links with Oonasdivers are also helping to publicise the club – we’ve had 30 people in the last month click through from their site! More surprisingly, we also get about 15 referrals per month from AboutUtila.com , and a new link from the Birmingham Local government website (birmingham.gov.uk ) is also producing about 6 referrals per month!
- Where people have clicked through to our site from Google , Lycos , Live Search etc., the website records what they searched for. Predictably, the top search is simply “GLUG” – indicating that most people already know what they’re looking for. However, other less predictable search terms which have led people to our website include “tenerife“, “sark“, “lesbian clothing“, “tolpuddle hall“, “gay underwater sex” (!), “purchasing an underwater wreck“, and “bring back the reds filter photoshop” !
- 94% of visitors use a Windows-based PC. Around 75% use Internet Explorer as their browser, 21% use Firefox, and most of the rest use Safari.

Fascinating, if a bit bizarre!
Reply to Jason StarmerI wander if mine and other members’ visits to this website, who’s web server is AOL, are counted as the USA visitors?
