Dry Dive - 23 March 2017
Dry Dive Booking Form |
Ever fancied diving to 50m without getting your hair (or any part of you) wet, as well as having heaps of educational fun in the process ?
If so then swap your usual tight fitting sexy neoprene for equally sexy loose fitting hospital scrubs and come along to the London Dive Chamber (LDC) on Thursday 3rd November and join GLUG on a dry dive. There are a maximum of SIX spaces and this event is for GLUG members only. The last time we did this it was brilliant fun ~ check out the squeaky 'helium' voices - so you'll need to book quickly to avoid disapointment! Don't forget to bring your dive log books along with you on the night as this counts as a 'proper' dive. SO WHAT IS IT ? Dry diving is exactly as it sounds. A hyperbaric chamber is the perfect environment to test a diver's ability at depth, but in a safe and water-free environment. WHAT HAPPENS ON THE DAY ? Meet at the London Dive Chamber at 17:45 for a start time of 18:00 (in old money that's 5:45pm for 6pm). Divers fill in a self-declaration medical form. Any questions ticked YES must be covered by a Dive Doctor's clearance form. (These can be done at London Dive Chamber with enough notice). Divers change into scrubs (provided) and after a briefing, enter the chamber accompanied by an LDC supervisor. The chamber is then compressed to 50m. After maximum bottom time is reached, decompression begins and divers decompress on 100% oxygen. On coming out of the chamber there will be a post-dive briefing and time for questions and logbook stamping then off to the pub for those all important post dive shandies ! COST Cost per diver is £40.00. Divers must be at least 18 years old for insurance reasons. The London Dive Chamber, a Hyperbaric decompression chamber offering NHS funded recompression to divers with Decompression Sickness (DCS) together with other Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) treatments. London Dive Chamber specialises in Diving Medicine and provides a 24 hour clinic with everything a diver could need from a medical facility. Cancellation Policy: £40 refunded only if the place is filled by someone else. If you would like to join this trip, you must complete the booking form on the left and pay via the link below. N.B. You need to be a GLUG member to join this trip so if you have not already paid your GLUG 2017 membership fee this can also be purchased below (click the Add to Cart Link below. It can be purchased with the boat dive deposit at the same time) |
